This year saw the return of the very popular Sportsman Luncheon, which are organised by Gerry Richards. Escalating prices in recent years, has seen them not work as a viable fundraising event. However, this year has seen Barry Wanderers Cricket Club team up with Barry Lions, in order to share the costs, and the work load.

The Luncheon was held at the B.P. Sports & Social Club on the 9th of November. The decision to team up with Barry Lions proved to work with 110 individuals coming to the event, with more people turned away. The function was a Three Course Meal with two guest speakers; which started at 13:30, and after much fun, was concluded at 18:00.

The guest speakers were Rick O' Shea, of Scrum V fame, and Bryn Phillips, a fantastic comedian, who received a standing ovation after his speech.

The Luncheon raised £2,134, which included a raffle and an auction. The Club are very grateful to Gerry Richards, and the £1,068 which was raised for the Wanderers, will see the club move forward this year. Our gratitude most also go to the members from the Barry Lions who ensured the function was a success, and also everyone who turned up to Luncheon.
