Memories of playing at the Wanderers: - Although I only played for four seasons, (we moved to London at the end of 1979, and to the Isle of Man in 1986, where we still live), I have loads of happy memories. Most of them are related to the great people who were involved, and the way in which a determination to win was mixed with a heap of fun! I remember loads of games, but one which was special was a match against Pilkington Glass(?? I think), where they were arrogantly cruising to a comfortable victory, when we took four or five wickets for a couple of runs and won by a run. Personal achievements – highlight I suppose was a 50 scored on tour, but I liked to keep wicket and enjoyed every minute. Wanderers Players Played with: - Well it is always hard to choose names, but I have to mention Mike Ashton. Without him, the Wanderers would not have survived, and he was always such good company. Others who need to be named are my former work colleagues, Elwyn Toozer, Steve Coslett and Len Ellis, Lyndon Walters, John, “more tea vicar?” Medley, and the legendary Paul Caddick. John McLucas has been responsible for many things, but I guess one of the most significant is that he taught my wife, Lorna, to drive. Where are you now? :- Until the end of 2005, I was employed in the airline industry as a senior manager in Finance. I am now help run a private equity firm. Lorna and I have three children, Richard, 26, who is employed by a major finance company, and is currently training staff in India, Voirrey, 25, who produced our first grandchild, Neve, last October, and Sian, 16. Cricket Experience since leaving the Wanderers: - I played very little cricket after I left South Wales – a couple of departmental games and a single game representing British Airways; a pro/am seven-a side game about 15 years ago, and an informal game with some friends last year which ended with me popping my ribs, (very painful, not recommended!) and dropping the catch! | Home | Links | Contact Us | Sitemap |
